Gel Strength
Gel strength are the shear stress measured at low shear rate after a mud has set quiescently for a period of time (10 sec. and 10 min. and 30 min.). The strength is a function of suspended solids, solid contents, temperature, chemical content and time. They are also measured with the rotating viscometer. The unit in US oil field for gel strength is (lbf/100ft2).
